Pupil height, or pupil center height, is the distance from the visual axis of the eye through the lens to the lowest point at the bottom of the lower edge of the frame.
Pupil height can be divided into distance pupil height and near pupil height. When there is no specific requirement, the pupil height of distance glasses is generally on the horizontal line of the geometric center of the frame. The pupil height of near-use glasses can be slightly on or slightly below the horizontal line of the geometric center of the frame. However, when preparing progressive multifocal glasses, there are strict requirements for the pupil height, necessitating careful and repeated measurements.
The main steps:
1. Clip this tester onto the frame and aim the center point at the intermediate position of the bridge.
2. Adjust the measuring pieces using the knobs on both sides. The upper knob is for adjusting the pupil distance, and the lower one is for adjusting the pupil height.
3. When the upper edge of the measuring pieces aligns with the pupil center, you can read the pupil height at the lower edge of the frame.
